Keywords – Important underlying principles

Imagination -> Will -> Energy

Thought and Thought

Imagination -> Will -> Energy: Are three key aspects in Ritual working. Thought and Thought: Are two key aspects when working with other intelligences.

Imagination -> Will -> Energy

Take the banishing ritual of the pentagram for an example.penta Imagination: You visualise the pentagram.  This gives use a outline, a template, a point of focus.  Our mental creation. Will: We give this creation purpose, direction, intent.  Force.  The purpose of “Banishing”. Energy: Whether directing energy, vibrating, etc. Energy gives it form.  While penetrable on our physical plane, noticeable only by those sensitive enough, the energy gives it form on other planes. Two principles formed from these three actions are:  Force and Form. Visualisation is our Imagination.  The working with the intent of banishing is our Will.  And the vibration or raising and releasing of energy into the visualised image is our Energy.

Thought and Thought

In a simplified sense we have two layers of thought, thus the title “Thought and Thought”. Questions: What language do people who speak Spanish think in?  What language do people who speak English think in?  What language to bi-lingual people think in? Bi-lingual people can think in either language for the exact same thought.  This is the first Thought, the thought they can think in either language.  The second thought isn’t actually a thought, but is rather what we consider the thought: The expression in language.  Before we had language, how would we understand our thoughts?  Did we just not think, because we did not have language? The point of this is based on understanding why spirit communication can be confusing or not make sense.  The spirits know the first thought, the thought before we put it into words.  When they communicate, it is on the layer of the first thought, and we then interrupt that into something we can understand: Language, images, etc. Though this is definitely not the only form of communication.  Hearing a voice completely foreign to your own, or seeing an image or form before you are different.  This “Thought and Thought” is a way of understanding the mind for both communicating with spirits and other mental workings, for nested within this concept are some ideas around “Telepathy”. I was planning on writing on these further down the track, and expanding on them dramatically.  However, I have decided to share now (don’t know why I changed my mind, just felt the impulse to blog).  They are not “secret” but seem to be little known, forgotten or misunderstood aspects of Magick.  And in my opinion are very important principles to know.

Psychic Games: Zener Cards

The local spiritual centre just done me a favour.  I walked in there looking for Zener Cards, but they did not stock any.  However, they did print laminated card for labels for their crystals and so forth.  Anyway, long story short.  They made me some Zener Cards.

What are Zener Cards?

Zener Cards are also known as ESP cards as they were used (and still are, especially for a bit of fun at Wiccan meetings) in Extra-Sensory Perception experiments.  There are 25 cards total, which are 5 groups of 5 different designs.  Here is are a few more details on Zener Cards: Wikipedia: Zener Cards and below a photo of mine (you an also get zener cards in colour, which adds another level of difficulty or area such as attempting to correctly predict the colour of the next card.)

Making your own Zener Cards

To make some of your own, if you have a printer which can print on card, here is a link to a template: Printable Zener Cards (PsychicScience.org) there are two pages, so ensure you check both to get all 25 cards.

Using your Zener Cards

The above picture of my zener cards were after an attempt.  First time use of these cards, and I got 12 out of 25 correct (about 48% accuracy).  Feeling pretty good, even though anyone can get 20% by just guessing Star over and over again, if you are not doing that, and beat the 20%, it feels good.  However, I’m not going to use them again today, I’m going to let the good feeling last.

  1. What I done was, shuffled the cards, then turned them face down (hold the entire pile) placed them under the table, so I could not see them, even the back side of them.  Placed my hand on them.  The first image that flashed before my eyes (or within my head, flashed before my minds eye, however you wish to say it) was what I said.  Brought the card up from under the table to check if it is correct.  Place correct to the right and incorrect to the left.  This is a very simple method.  And one you can do yourself.
  2. This one is an attempt to “scry” or literally “see” the shape.  It requires you to be in an altered state, one you would use for scrying.  Placing yourself as in method one, with the cards under the table, draw one off, still keeping it under the table, and place you hand on it.  Either open eyes or closed eyes, which ever you prefer, scry the nearest surface (your scrying mirror if you have one or your eyelids if your eyes are closed).  You should get brief impressions of shapes, lines, etc, appearing on the surface you are scrying.  This is your indication of what the shape is.  Be aware however, what could appear to be the top corner of a square can also be the bottom corner of a cross and what appears to be the left side of a star, the top most left point, could actually be an indication of part of the waves.
  3. Group work is always fun, they can also be used for attempting to read another persons mind.  Or send telepathic messages.  The one we implemented with another’s zener cards (which lead to me seeking out my own) was sitting back to back, and from here we used two methods of reading.  The first method: the sender had all the cards, shuffled them, and then meditated upon the image, attempting to think only of that image, keeping the mind free of anything else, and the reader (the person sitting with their back to the other person) attempted to guess the correct shape.  The second method: One card of each of the five shapes was given to sender and reader (5 unique cards each), laid out in front of them, the sender randomly picked a shape and meditated upon it.  The reader, closed their eyes, and run their hand over the cards (about an inch above them) attempting to feel a “pull” like a magnetism over the correct card.

You can experiment in your own ways with these cards, and it is quite a fun thing to do during Wiccan gatherings.  Especially for groups who do a bit of psychic development, it is interesting to see the results from one meeting to another.  You can also do this with Tarot cards and even a standard deck of playing cards, attempting to predict Wands, Sword, Pentacles or Cups or even suit or colour with Standard Cards.
